Unwise decisions happen for one of two reasons. Either (1) we’re in a hurry and can’t process all the incoming information properly, or (2) and more common, the repercussions of our decision won’t happen for some time down the road.
An unwise decision can happen because we’re uninformed or worse, because we’re ignorant. It means we’re swayed by short-term comfort versus long-term implications. It might feel good in the short run, but in the long run, it could be disastrous.
Our job as leaders (and we all are, in our own way), is to elevate the long run on behalf of those we care about, regardless of how loud the tribal noise encourages us to fall prey to instant comfort.
Truth Be Told, the truth of time always wins out.
