Can I Trust You?

People ask each other this question every day and everyone looks for different clues (especially nonverbal) to answer it. Race, religion, gender, nationality, language; it doesn’t matter when it comes to asking this question.

We’ve been doing it for millions of years because nothing is more important than the answer to this question and the resulting outcome. Almost no one decides the answer to this question based on the fine print, your policies, or your position on critical issues of national importance.

We decide long, long before that. People watch what you do. They watch with the sound off. They listen to others. They seek out clues of the tiniest sort. Why? Because we were in tribes for a very long time before we even developed a language.

Can you be trusted?
