Principles of Personal Leadership Effectiveness™

How Do You Handle Problems?

Most people will agree life can be difficult. We all face problems every day, both personally and professionally. The number one essential when dealing with problems is not to deny them. In fact, I encourage you to embrace and accept your problems and challenges with an attitude of optimism.

Action Step:
Observe this week how you are accepting and embracing problems that you most likely will be confronted with. Begin to identify ways that you can handle the problem in a positive way.

Quote of the Week:
“Only you can control your attitude and how you respond to challenges in your life.”

What Will Your Legacy Be?

Why do you exist?

The better you define and understand what your contribution can be both personally and professionally, you will significantly enhance your attitudesbeliefs and commitments (ABCs) toward these defined areas, which will enable you to live a full life of impact and satisfaction.

Action Step:
Begin today clearly defining why you exist. Close the door to the past and focus on a better future. By doing this simple but profound step you will begin to progress toward achieving your personal and professional goals.

Quote of the Week:
“Authentic success depends on what you do with you.”

Life Is A Battle! Fight the Good Fight!

To achieve your personal and professional goals you simply must not quit. Yes, you will be confronted with challenges and obstacles, but remain focused and committed to finish what is most important to you. To live an authentically successful life you must learn to stick with it and persist. Most people are good at starting something but unfortunately get derailed or simply quit and therefore never really realize their full potential.

Action Step:
Determine what is most important to you…personally and professionally. Then set in place an action plan with defined goals and timelines. Then, simply go to work on your plan and do not quit.

Quote of the Week:
“Never, never, never give up.”
–
Winston Churchill

Have a great week! 🙂

When Faced With Challenges, Source Others
To Gain Wisdom, Maturity, Experience & Insight.

At times life can be difficult and challenging. You may find yourself facing a personal or professional situation that requires for you to make a mid-course correction regarding a specific decision. When making a personal or professional decision of importance it is critical to seek the advice and wisdom of others. Gaining insights from others in advance of making an important decision or changing your course of direction is critical as you seek to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Action Step:
Begin to identify key individuals in your life that can be in a sense your personal advisory group. Make a list of the kinds of qualities you would like on your team and be sure to select people with diversified strengths and talents that can help in all vital areas of your life.

Quote of the Week:
“Leverage the wisdom and experience of others.”

Have a great week! 🙂

What’s Your Perspective On How You Manage Your Time?

We’ve all heard the saying “time” is a precious commodity.

Most will agree with this statement but where the difference lies is how you focus your time to live your life with meaning and purpose…personally and professionally!

Life today is not only busy, but at every turn someone or something wants to take away your precious time.

Your personal achievements and professional successes will be determined by how well you can control your thoughts, your activities and most importantly your relationships.

Action Step:
Set a goal this week to examine how you can most effectively use your time.

Try your best to make a commitment to invest your time in a balanced manner so you can maximize your personal and professional opportunities.

Quote of the Week:
“Focus On What Counts Most!”

Have a great week! 🙂

ARE YOU SUCCESSFUL?

Before you can answer that question, you have to ask this one:
What is your definition of Success? Everyone has a definition of success, but the key is, what is yours? The better you can define what success means to you personally and professionally, you’ll have a greater opportunity to realize your desired goals and objectives.

Action Step:
Set a goal this week to put your definition of success in writing. Be sure you define what your meaning of success is and work hard to prevent others from defining it for you.

Quote of the Week:
“Authentic Success is the progressive realization of all that you were meant to be and do.”

Have great week! 🙂

The Importance of Being Character-Centered.

Character will make or break your success personally or professionally.
Character-centeredness is the ultimate source of our power individually, institutionally and socially. Character-centeredness is not only the source of real strength but also the key to a life of satisfaction. Employers today, more than ever, realize that a person’s character is of equal or greater importance to their job skills. Cultivating your character is both beneficial and necessary.

Action Step:
This week conduct a personal introspection on your character. List out what you consider your character qualities to be. Also list out what areas you feel you could improve upon.

Quote of the Week:
“To be authentically successful, you must be the same on the inside as you are on the outside.”

Have a great week! 🙂

The Importance of Attitudes, Beliefs and Commitments.

What are the keys to success in your life? The better you can define what success means to you personally and professionally, the greater opportunity you will have to achieve your desired goals and objectives in life.

Action Step:
Set a goal this week to define the core elements that will help you become personally and professionally successful. It is important for you to understand your attitude towards challenges and/or opportunities, what you truly believe matters most, as well as what you are committed to (personally and professionally). Operating daily upon these definitions will have a dramatic effect on your level of authentic success.

Quote of the Week:
“Only a man or woman of discipline will truly succeed in all areas of their life.”

Have a great week! 🙂

Taking Personal Responsibility is Key to Your Success.

We may not be able to control everything that life throws our way, however we must learn to control our attitudes, beliefs and commitments, which are essential to personal growth and success.  Taking control and accepting responsibility for certain situations is the first step toward achieving your personal and professional goals in life.

Action Step:
Set a goal this week to isolate a personal or professional circumstance to resolve in a manner that only you can do. By taking personal responsibility you will not only find personal satisfaction, but you will gain the respect of others.

Quote of the Week:
“The price of greatness is responsibility.”
–
Winston Churchill

Have a great week! 🙂

Do You Have the Right Perspective Toward Solving Problems.

To authentically succeed in life, your perspective toward challenges is critical! As we all know, life at times can be extremely difficult…personally and professionally. The key to dealing with life’s problems is not to ask why bad things happen to us. Instead we should ask, What can I learn from this?
How can I use this present challenge to grow?

Action Step:
Set a goal this week to observe how you are responding to a challenge or problem. Is your attitude positive or negative? Do some personal introspection to see if this is an area you feel you may need to improve upon.

Quote of the Week:
“When written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters—one represents danger, and the other represents opportunity.”
– John F. Kennedy

Have a great week! 🙂
